Translating and interpreting services
An interpreter deals with the spoken word. Interpreters convey oral messages or statements from one language into another language.
A translator deals with written text. Translators make written transfer of a message or statement from one language to another.
MAQ provides advice on the implementation of the Queensland Government Language Services Policy, which is designed to enhance service delivery to non-English speaking clients. The Language Services Policy was incorporated as part of the Queensland Government Multicultural Policy in December 2004.

Multilingual information management means planning and developing information in languages appropriate for a client group in a way that best meets their information needs. More information is incorporated into the Queensland Government Language Services Policy under the heading "Guidelines for multilingual information planning".
