Community consultation
The Queensland Government is reviewing its multicultural policy and would like to hear your views and ideas about future directions for multiculturalism in Queensland.
A discussion paper, A multicultural future…for all of us, has been published as part of the review process.
Community consultation will occur between October 2009 and March 2010 and will include eForums and community workshops throughout the state.
About the discussion paper
The discussion paper provides information about Queensland's current multicultural policy and the following principles:
- promoting the economic and cultural benefits of diversity
- ensuring access
- assisting community development and participation
- promoting community relations and cohesion
The paper seeks feedback about how the government can deliver services, engage with diverse groups and work with communities to achieve more equitable outcomes for all Queenslanders.
It includes questions about:
- supporting multiculturalism through principles, legislation and policy
- building on the economic benefits of cultural diversity
- access to services
- community development and participation
- strengthening Queensland's multicultural identity.

You can attend a community workshops held in Brisbane, Inala, Logan, Caboolture, Toowoomba, Hervey Bay, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns and the Gold Coast.
